Research:

In my PhD project I focus on the topics of residential mobility and residential preferences and the way they are being shaped. I am interested in young families, specifically those living in the Prague metropolitan area (PMA). In recent years, we can observe slight changes in this respect. In addition to the still significant suburbanization, the inner city undergoes a significant development. In order to fully understand these tendencies, I decided to study the decision-making process and the subsequent process of selecting a new home in three different types of areas in the PMA (inner city, housing estates, and suburbs). Firstly, I analyse individual migration data, focusing primarily on the changing patterns of residential mobility between 2007 and 2017. Secondly, I conduct in-depth semi-structured interviews with new residents living in the above-mentioned areas, which allow a deeper understanding of the issue.
