Research:

A numerous generation of descendants of suburban newcomers, who has been since the second half of the 1990s moving to Prague’s hinterland, is now facing the choice of their future residential place. An attractive urban life corresponding to common preferences of young adults is in direct contrast with a daily commuting to remote suburbs. The current situation on Prague’s housing market and especially financial affordability restraints to a higher inflow of young inhabitants who hence seek alternative migration trajectories. Using the analysis of statistical data and field research, the project aims at the analysis of migration flows and the explanation of factors behind the new housing choice of young adults. Uncovered migration trajectories will be considered in a continuous transformation process of Prague’s metropolitan area.
